Frequently Asked Questions

What styles of wedding rings does Marks Jewelers carry?
Our wedding ring collection spans every major style: classic diamond bands, eternity rings, stackable bands, color gemstone rings, plain precious metal bands, alternative metal rings for men, and lab-grown diamond options. We carry designer collections from A Jaffe, Benchmark, Crown Ring, Fana, Verragio, ReMARKable Designs, and our proprietary Marks 89.
Should our wedding bands match each other?
Matching is a personal choice, not a requirement. Many couples choose coordinated bands that share metal type or design elements without being identical. Others prefer entirely different styles that reflect individual taste. Our designers help couples decide whether matching, complementary, or independent styles best represent their relationship.
What's the most durable metal for a wedding ring?
Platinum is the most durable traditional precious metal — naturally white, hypoallergenic, and dense enough to resist everyday wear. Among alternative metals, tungsten and titanium offer extreme scratch resistance. For gold, 14K offers the best balance of durability and purity; 18K is softer but richer in gold content.
How far in advance should we order wedding bands?
We recommend ordering wedding bands two to three months before your ceremony. Ready-to-wear bands can be sized and ready within one to two weeks, while custom designs take four to six weeks. Engraving adds additional time. Ordering early removes ceremony-week stress and allows time for any adjustments.
Can I add diamonds to my wedding ring later?
Adding diamonds to an existing plain band is rarely possible — most bands aren't built to be altered without compromising their structure. But the diamonds themselves are what carry the meaning, and those can absolutely live on. Our master jewelers redesign around your original stones, creating a new piece that honors the sentiment. Free consultations at either location.
Do you offer engraving on wedding rings?
Yes. Traditional and hand engraving is a specialized craft, so we partner with master engravers who do this work exclusively — wedding dates, names, monograms, and decorative exterior engraving. We coordinate everything, handle the timing, and your band comes back finished to the standard our customers expect. Bring your band in to discuss options at either location.
