Spotlight on Exceptional Mothers Shaping Marks Jewelers

Dareen, Owner

Interview:

  • Q: What's your favorite part about being a mother?
  • A: Watching my children use the tools that we've given them to navigate through life and not make the same mistakes we've made is the most rewarding part of being a mother for me. The hugs are also the best! Once your kids become their own person, seeing their personalities and seeing yourself in them with their own little twist is really amazing.
  • Q: How did motherhood change your life?
  • A: When you become a parent it's not about you anymore. Motherhood added a dimension of life that I never knew existed; it showed me a much deeper level of what love is all about. I didn't sleep for a long time when my children were young, and now they tuck me in before they go out at night!
  • Q: What's the best gift you've received for Mother's Day?
  • A: Healthy kids.
  • Q: What do you wish for all the mothers of the world?
  • A: That all moms find the time to make and experience quality memories with their families, because when it's all over, it's the memories that are in our hearts forever.
  • Q: What made you want to join Jim in the family business?
  • A: I've been obsessed with jewelry since I was a little girl. I used to walk to the local jewelry store in my neighborhood and oggle over everything for what seemed like hours. As a Logistics major, inventory was somehing that came natural to me, and I wanted to help Jim grow the business. I had always worked really hard for someone else, and this was the perfect opportunity to work really hard in my own family business, alongside my husband, and it's turned out to be an incredible journey.

Priscilla, General Manager

Interview:

  • Q: What's your favorite part about being a mother?
  • A: Everything! Seeing the world through the eyes of my children has been very rewarding, in addition to watching them grow up to be the kindest, most respectful young men.
  • Q: What's the best gift you've received for Mother's Day?
  • A: Handwritten cards from when they were in kindergarten with lots of misspelled words.
  • Q: How did motherhood change your life?
  • A: I am a better person because of my children. They bring out the best in me.
  • Q: How has working in jewelry changed your life?
  • A: In the most positive of ways - it allowed me to be a part of people's most memorable journeys in their lives. I've made friendships that will last a lifetime, and being in management has allowed me to be a mentor and have a positive effect on people's lives.
  • Q: What is your favorite part of working at Marks?
  • A: The Positive culture Jim and Dar created. Additionally, a supportive and inclusive environment for all employees where they feel respected and valued.
  • Q: What made you want to go into the jewelry business?
  • A: I didn't seek out jewelry; it was a catalyst that helped me make connections with people and be a part of their journey. It evolved into something I absolutely love and am passionate about.

Jewelry: A Bridge to Deeper Understanding and Connection

Our mothers view each piece of jewelry not just as a possession, but as a symbol representing meaningful milestones and family memories. They recognize how every ring, pendant, or heirloom tells a story—often one of love, perseverance, and celebration. Their unique perspective as mothers helps them connect on a personal level with customers who are also mothers, daughters, or loved ones, hoping to capture their stories through treasures.

We invite you to be part of a culture shaped by empathy, warmth, and genuine connection, fueled by the extraordinary mothers who bring their best selves to Marks Jewelers every day.
